Convergent Media Collective collaborates with the San Antonio Food Bank

In late July we were asked by Marcos Hernandez to collaborate with his PR company and the San Antonio Food Bank.  The project would be for the “SA Goes Orange” September campaign by the San Antonio Food Bank.  We collaborated with them on some initial productions and helped them produce, shoot and edit some PSA’s they had developed.  In addition we developed some projection mapping installations, literally going rouge to some sites and running some tests 😀

It was a fun month.  And one that quickly educated the collective in terms of how we develop content for non-profits.

The end result were projection installations that got better and better over the course of month.  Sadly our last location was canceled, however we took our ideas we had for that day and implemented them at TEDx San Antonio.

We would like to thank the Food Bank for collaborating with us and giving us the opportunity to do some convergent media work for a non-profit that is out making a big difference in the 210.

Cox Media Projection Mapping Collaboration

Over the past year the Convergent Media collective has been proud to collaborate with Cox Media:

Initially joey met Mary Lanoue-Gers at a Media Alliance meeting more than 3 years ago.  We agreed that we should collaborate, but at the time both of us were still developing our new media initiatives out.  Then this past year Alfonso Montemayor a colleague of Mary’s contacted joey and by that time we both had some mutual projects to discuss.  So we were off!

The Collective met with Alfonso and did a full presentation for him and his partners in the new media division at Cox Media.

They were especially taken aback by the projection mapping and it was decided we would consult with them on a promotional projection mapping concept.  The concept developed into a site specific projection project where they would be able to promote their clients through projection environments using branding in the background, as well as well customers/patrons.

The CMC @ TEDx San Antonio

For those who do not know. TEDx San Antonio, is a TED style conference where thought leaders gather to rethink, re-imagine and share ideas about technology, education, art and more.

This year the Convergent Media Collective was asked by TEDx San Antonio to host a demo of our projects and research.  We were happy to oblige and we put together a group of demos that we felt exuded the raw nature of our work, both technologically and theoretically.

Students and community members came together and put on quite a show.  The attendees were blown away and we received many compliments and a strong request for us to do another public showing of our work.
